MAF Sensor

96 GA is starting to suddenly lose power when traveling at hwy speeds. RPM's suddenly drop to 500 or so while driving along. Will be getting this checked out this afternoon but from looking online it's sounding like it could potentially be the MAF sensor, if this is the case is this something one could replace himself or should a mechanic do it?

30 bucks for a new sensor remove the mas from the boot and 4 lil torque bolts on there gotta come off and put the new one in (fits only one way) dont need a tec to do this.

Only $30 for a MAF sensor? I've been quoted by numerous stores/people that they are around $350 Canadian. Am I looking in the wrong places here?
