choosing a suburban

I'm in the marked to purchase a suburban, looking to get anywhere from a 95 to a 99. Any suggestions on which year is better, and if anyone knows basic 4 inch lift prices, or suggestions on which lifts to get? I have a 96 s10 blazer that I love but it is too small for my 3 dogs and new baby on the way.

I have a 97 and love it except for the brakes.
I've heard newer models have better front brakes

I just got a 98 about 6 months ago and love it. I got it to haul hubby's Mustang from Wash state to Virginia Beach which we are doing in about 62 days from now. So far I haven't had any problems with the brakes, just a transfer case that went bad on us. I'm going to have the brakes checked when I take my Burb for her pre-trip tune up and wheel alignment.

I bought a 99 suburban a little over a month ago, and love it. It's one of the best cars I've ever owned. I've heard some complain about the brakes, but you just have to remember you're driving a 5500 lb. vehicle. I had to put them to the test a few days ago in wet conditions, and they worked flawlessly. As for your lift question, I believe all the major manufacturers (Rancho, superlift, etc.) all carry them. There is very little difference in the model years except that the Vortec engine was used starting in 96. It has more power, but has been known to have some fuel injection problems.

The wife loves the 97 GMC K1500/5.7L Vortec that we bought last fall. I pulled a tandem axle enclosed trailer to northen Colorado last month, and it averaged 11.9 MPG with six people in it and we had a load in the trailer. It runs about 16.5-17.3 on the road not pulling anything. Rides and drives very nice. :)
