Got a 94 mustang. Just put in a brand new kenwood cd deck in it. But everytime i turn up the volume past a certain point the speakers cutout. Im not talking really loud just above 16, they just stop. Did it with the factory ones and my new ones. Any ideas on the cause?

1 amp american pro 600 watt max, kenwood 250 watt speakers, plus two subs 350 watts, kenwood cd deck 50x4, did it myself ran new wires for the back speakers, used the existing speaker wire in the front and for power, and used the power antenna out on the radio for the amp, amp is connected to 12 volt just before the fuse box and car chassis

if all that goes through the amp it might be getting overloaded and shutting itself down. before you do anything check the head unit for some weird setting, other than that double check to be sure that none of the wires are exposed and touching or that the deck can handle pushing those speakers.

I had a similar problem (Different car thoe) and found that you cant pass 1500 watts worth of power through a 4 gauge power cable. Upgraded alternator, added another battery and switched to 1 gauge wire fixed the problem :)
