My tires are startin to lose their traction and i want new ones. Since i am going to get new ones should i may as well get ones that are a bit wider than stock? or should i get ones about the same size just good tires? Any suggestions as to what tires i should get? i have a 98 trans am automatic with 3.73 gear ratio exhaust and hypertech power programming. i plan to eventually do alot more and have my car over 500 horsepower so should i just go ahead and buy wide tires? Oh and i know the stock tire size is 245/50/16 what does the 245 represent and the 50? i knwo the 16 is rim size?

would you suggest either of these tires?

I have the KDWS...but what that link goes to is a 255/xx/17" tire. you want a 245/50/16 tire...and trust me...you'll be fine until you get in the high 300rwhp mark

Yes, I would say definately. I bought my car with tires that needed to be replaced. So when I went I called the tire place and got a quote and got somewhere around the money they said. Anyways, my tires were wider than the stock tires, and I switched back to the stock size. Now, when then streets are wet and I'm stopped and if I accelerate somewhat fast from a stopped position, I will spin my tires and I don't get any traction, so my opinion is yes.
