Moonroof Motor

In my contour the sunroof goes back easily but when you try to shut it or put it on the tilt position it clicks like the gears are damaged and you have to push it when it starts to click to get it closed, do you know if a new motor will fix the problem? b/c i herd that i might have to replace some things in the doors to make it work but i am not sure if that is right????anything on this one would be helpfull cause im straight up confused on how you would need to replace something in the doors or get at something in the doors.....please help fast bc i found a motor for cheap thanks to all

My Contour had the same problem. It is common. It's a broken gear in the motor unit. Check out this web site. You will love it to see how easy it is to fix. The part costs $55 but it's worth it. As a comparison, Ford only offers the complete Motorcraft sunroof motor unit and it costs $262.67!!
When you have the motor out and can move the sunroof by hand then clean and grease the rails of the sunroof to make it move easy again. Dirt and grime makes the sunroof hard to move, it will put a lot of stress on the gear and will cause it to break.
Fix it and then enjoy your good-as-new sunroof!
