When Mitsu first started shipping the 3G's over to the US, they complied with either Cali state emissions or Fed spec emissions. For example, Cali has the most stringent emissions, alot more so then say, North Carolina. And those states who did not adopt Cali's emissions instead met the Fed-Spec requirements. Cali spec has an extra cat, called a pre-cat, whereas the Fed Spec does not. That cat is the reason why there are different power ratings. And in Mid 2001, all 3G's were sold as Cali-Spec, so now you are not even able to get a Fed-Spec version of the car.

Johnny, how can I boost it to a 270 with turbo?
Is there a package or individual upgrades?
Oh, and since I have your attention...
I want to fill in the tire space better on my 2000RS,
what size rims should I get, 16" or 17."
Or is there more information you have that I should know.
Thank you.

Accelerated AutoSports Inc out of Florida makes a turbo kit that puts down 264whp/284wtq at 8.5 psi. The crank HP of that kit is ~320HP.
www.acceleratedautosports.com
Rim wise, I am not sure if a larger rim will fit in the spare tire well. If you remove the jack, you may be able to put a 16" in there, but do not quote me on that.

llol for fuck christ 2000 RS and GS's can take that much boost o_O? god damn here I thought i had a peice of shit with my 2000 eclipse. Ive been searching for a 240SX or a Integra or 200SX SER or a GSX well I been looking for tonsa shit lol. But damn o_O Maybe I should reconsider. I just dont like the way the fucker handles any tips? And why does it seem the RS can take more boost then the GT? The eclipse was mine but my moms car blew up and I got my license suspended so now we are looking for something for myself. Soooooo should she just get something and I keep the eclipse ooooooooooorr what? I kinda wanna establish credit though by financing a car.

as much as i love the eclipse, i haveta say, build your credit, otherwise you may regret all this later in life when you can't buy a house, or get the nice car you can afford or whatever. i was 17 when i got my eclipse, because the tranny on my saturn went. I have been paying for the car, don't be fooled, 'daddy' only signed, lol. but now that im 18, i haveta see about changing the car over to my name.

The RS/GS have a different engine than the GT/GTS. The RS/GS' 4G64 is a great engine to boost with. It has great cylinder volumetrics of .6L/cyl. Also, I am sure that you are aware of how great the 4G63 is, asfar as taking boost. Well, the 4G64 has the 4G63T's rods, and there are only 2 major differences between the 4G63 and 4G64. The 4G63 has an 85mm bore, the 4G64 has a 86.5mm bore, and the closed deck is .6mm higher in the 4G64, which accounts for the 9:1 Compression Ratio (CR).
And here is some more good news about the 4G64. The 4G63T's turbo manifold will bolt up to the engine as will the EVO's turbo manifold. I would suggest you use the EVO manifold as it more the turbo a couple more inches away from the AC compressor, so you can run a larger turbo without having to take out your AC. But the EVO manifold will require a 1 1/2 inch spacer and starter shield trmming to clear clear the starer properly. Also, the EVO's DOHC head will bolt up to the 4G64 and with that you should be able to raise your redlne just a little.
With proper Air/Fuel tuning, you can run the 4G64 to about 15psi as a daily driver. That is a little on the high side, and I would suggest that if you do turbo, to run 11-12 psi. That will still give you a 300+whp/320+wtq car. Which is fast enough to put you into the low 13's or high 12's, if you have good driving skills.
Suspension wise, the RS is the worst of the bunch. I don't know your budget, but can recommend some things. If you have money to spend and want the best for your car, get the Tein Super Street Damper w/ upper pilowball mounts and EDFC. If you do not have the $1700 for the Teins, get either the KYB AGX's or Tokico Illumina's paired with the Eibach Pro-Kit. Also get a Road/Race Engineering (RRE) rear strut tower bar. Finally, take a look at Suspension Techniques rear sway bar and put that on your car. The RRE reat strut tower bar is $70 and the rear sway bar is $150-160.

But the Eclipse is "technically" my moms car now lol it was mine and uh shes like idk she wants to get those lambo doors and get new wheels on it. Shes all into fast looking cars and crap so I could talk her into the turbo lol. I had NO idea the 4g64 is capable of so much. lol it almost sounds better then the 6g in the GT's besides the whole slapping on a Vr4 DOHC head on it. But any ways thanks yall. Oh and yeah the suspension does SUCK monkey balls.

oh and man heres what I would to its kinda ludicrous but if I was working and was really in need of some credit Ide go to one of those "EZ finance" places pick up a hunk of shit for like 3 grand put $500 down on it theyt ake on $500 for interest pay off that bitch in oh say little less then a year at $200 a month, sell the mother fucker or trade it in once its payed off for, oh yeah dont drive it lol as soon as you get it insured drive it off the lot drop insurance let it sit all purty like and just pay it off, Check the trade in value or blue book before you buy it to see if the prices equal out. And figure what ti will be in a year, that way you wont loose much more then 500-1k out the deal. But honestly banks dont look at the cost of the car they just look at how consistent you were with the payments. my friend did this with a Honda CRX but he popd in a rebuilt Engine in it and once he payed it off he sold it for more then what it was original worth. The engine only costed like $500 one of the D series, and the car was like 3 grand he financed it with pretty low interest for a year sold it for $4500. Boom he had good credit to, lol he went and got himself a WRX and hes only 18.

only bad part of putting the car in your name is gonna be the insurance....i hope you have a great driving record. my insurance payments are more than my car payment.

lol um..... When I had a camaro we payed uh $700 a month for that car and a 96 rav4 lol. And um lets see Ive had two wrecklass tickets, a speeding, Two accidents(not my fault) and a Wrecklass that got dismissed going 90 in a 45, Any who the camaro was totalled my isnurance is being Sued they want more then my 50 grand limit or what ever. So Yah its gonna be high as balls, but lol its gonna be high either way see theres a point where an insurance company cant charge you any more and you gotta get this special type of high risk crap lol. Im very close to the limit and im only 18 :\. Funny thing is I have never street raced, ran a stop light or a stop sign lol. Its always a bad incident. like the wrecks I was in a hurricane and the car HydroPlained crack right into another car head on. the wrecklass I was late for dialysis and I was panicking cause well I missed my last two treatments and yah know I was an hour late and that craps kinda important o_O, and uh the speeding ticket this bitch was in the back seat needed to take a piss real bad and I didnt see the "redude speed ahead" crap, and the other wrecklass well, I spun a tire at 3 am in a parking lot lol. Cop pulled up boom license is gone for 6 months.

sounds like we have about the same luck...i havent lost my license yet though....the high risk insurance you are talkin about is probably the SR-22, which i will have to get in the coming months. i heard that it causes your insurance to go up about 70%. like i need my payments to be any higher

alot of the turbo kits that you find online come with more thenjust a turbo and a cooler, some come with new pistons and other new heavy duty components for your engine so the litle 4 banger can handle it
johnnyBgood
05-09-2004, 07:53 AM
The thing is, most of those turbo kits are NOT for the 3G 4G64. There is only one manufacturer of the 3G RS/GS turbo kit, Accelerated Autosports Inc. And unless you planning on running more than 15psi, you do not need new pistons, and the AAI turbo kit comes preset at 8.5psi and lays down 264whp/284wtq at 8.5psi.

thats damn AWESOME at 5psi lol. I mean god damn thats over a 100hp increase I had no damn idea thse engines were capable of such. Any way yeah I dont have to get the Sr22 insurance yet for some strange reason lol, but its getting damn close. I get my license back on the 17th one exact week after my 19th bday :D Which is Tomorow :D!!!. Imma get druuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunk hopefully get me some booty to.
johnnyBgood
05-09-2004, 04:27 PM
It is 8.5psi, not 5 psi. But that still equates to 17.29whp per 1 psi, which is a great number.
