IAC on a 1987 convertable.

Does anyone know where the IAC valve is? I am supposed to take it
off and clean it. I think its next to the throttle. A black round
container with a pin that goes into another piece that connects to
engine but if I pull that I will have to put on a new gasket for
it. Is this correct? I might as well get a new one if I have to replace the gasket.
