intakes?? Exhausts??

Which is better overall, cold air intakes or just regular air intakes and which gives more horsepower? and I want an exhaust but i was wondering if theres any really preformance boosting exhausts that are close to, if not as quiet as stock exhausts(i hate that ricey loud sound)

To awnser your question about the intakes.. there are 2 types. Cold Air intake, witch will give you more power at high rpms, rather then at lower rpms. Then there is Short Ram, or WARM AIR, It uses a short intake tube that sucks warm air from the engine bay in. But give you more power at low end rpms, rather then high.

Its really presonal prefrence to me. I prefer Cold air, because it is better in close races that require REDLINE! HEHE

And to awnser your question about exhaust systems. Instead of getting bigger piping, like most people, just keep your stock piping and add a nice noise adjustable muffler. Any other ideas are welcome? !

probably wont get many hp gains from that though.

just changing the muffler isn't going to do anything. if you want more power you have to get all three, intake(cold air), header, exhaust(not just muffler)

your better off saving up for a good exhaust than spending money on headers. 5th gens have very efficient exhaust manifolds. you will probably be in shock when you take off your heat shield and notice your new shiney headers look exactly like the performance ones you just spent hundreds for. anyways, it won't make that much of a difference. if you really wanna add power, go FI, cuz NA requires too much money

The hp difference in cold air and short ram is minimal. A cold air might give you about one more pony than the short ram. Having either is a good modification over the stock airbox. Getting a muffler alone is stupid, sorry. Either spend on a full catback, or don't do anything to the exhaust system at all. I have been VERY happy with my RSR Exmag. As silent as the stock exhaust, and meets all of my performance exhaust requirements.

hey so how much did u pay for the rsr exmag and are there any others similiar to it (strong/quiet) that you'd recommend?

my two cents... screw the 7 hp from i/h/e. upgrade suspension. car looks better... and you can actually notice the difference. unlike a lot of mods.

Most of the 1000hp Supras out there are terrible Autocrossers, their power lies in the way top end and little of it is really usable. Of course, they were made to be dyno queens and not rally cars. I/H/E sacrifice low end torque for that high end power as well. I say the first thing is get a good pair of tires.

open her up and much as possible with out ruining ur back pressure. it will be fast and nice sounding. all u need next is a chip or programable piggyback

I got a mugen twin loop silencer exhaust recently and it's the BEST. It's not ricey at all, just low and rumbly, even in the higher rpms. Took 30 minutes to bolt on (you'll need a lift), I did need to remove an inch or so of the heat shielding so it didn't touch the pipes/hooks. Looks badass too. -More like a grenade launcher than a cannon. Problem is a new can cost over $1000. I lucked out on e-bay for mine.
