anyone has ever max out a d15b motor... i am pushing 9lbs of boost and do the 1/4 mile in (best time) 13.99sec and 13.4 on 50 shot NOS. i want to know how much she can handle. The motor is stock with a s200 hondata.
Thanks

ur running a 13.99 on a d15b(the 92hp motor?) thats impressive.

why not start upgrading the internals, and boost it more.

i was hearing a knocking sound the motor then boom, smoke with no fire. Think it was a connecting rod. Oil is running out the block with some water.

i wanted to, but what can i get for that motor... it's the motor that no one wants, i got 2 at $160 each. i want to learn as much is i can from these before i move to a twin cam.
So i'm going to put in the other motor, what can i do to beef the motor up?
All i found was some cams.
Thanks

cams, cam gears, pullys, fuel rails, filters, port and polish, bore throttle body, or bigger one. but you wont find many for a 1.5 liter. good luck

ummm a b series SI tranny isnt gonna fit on that D15 block !!!! and trying to get power out of a D15 without building the internals for alot of boost is rediculous because your throwing so much money into a car a Si civy or GSR is gonna roll on

If you can find D box with the LSD, this is what i have, it is the best for the motor. My is still stock. I wil get the number off the box, so that you know what to look for.
I have been run the car for 7 months now. I set the rev to 9500, and killed it. be for rev was set to 8500. I am goin to rebuild the next block and see what honda made with its 15 SOHC... So far, i like it.. After this one, i move to the DOHC

i am not sure, but are we being knocked, for making the most of what we have and loving it... it's starting to feel that way... you "older" guys help us "young" ones out. not all of us get to start with the joy of a b anything. I for one what to learn as much is i can. This is way i am playing with the 15. and i know when i go twin cam i what to build it all motor. So try not to kick the "young" one's down.
Cool guys...

I thought the JDM D15B had 130 hp?

There are several D15Bs ranging fro 70hp to 130, depends on make and model it came from.

He's prolly talking about the d15b jdm motor which is SOHC vtec rated at 130hp. I believe somebody else was running one of those boosted and was running good times.......but he could just be bsing

What motor are you using? d15b2 or d15b7? or d16? I am interested in your numbers over 7900 rpm.Im thinking about chipping my ecu but I heard any thing over 8000 will kill a stock valve train.

kesnut

it the d15b 16 valve "no numbers for this one", they say it 106 hp in "Honda &Acura Performance Handbook". Its the motor that came in the JDM 92 to 95 VTi civics, These cars came with LSD, and the same brake system as the SiR. The stock redline to the ecu was 7500, the frist few month i set the ecu to 8000 then to 8500, but i whould hadly run it that far up. setting it to over 9 was the dumb part. i know that you are safe with 8000. Oil is the most important thing, we have found. i a change ever month. just to be safe., i am working on a wedsite for the two d15 cars we run, so u'll have a better idea.

Here comes another newbie tech-talk reply.
I have a POS winter beater HB and I run 9 lbs, got a few low fifteens, a high 14 in the 1/4. Laugh if you want, it's more fun than stock, and the junkyard turbo cost me a few hundred total. My money's into my summer ride.
Some run 12 lbs, but that's asking for trouble...I can't imagine putting NOS on top of 9 lbs on a stock 1.5...
The OLD civic si trannies do supposedly fit the d15s. Some people sell CX trannies as Si trannies, as they supposedly fit and gear out the same. On a d15 from a DX, though, you would be shifting into 5th at 70mph, as we have on on my friend's HB.

Wow this person is really uninformed.... 92-95 Civic Hatchbacks w/ the EX SOHC Vtec motors - D16z6- are known as Civic Si's ... Now since that is a D-series motor and has D-series Tranny that will bolt up to his D15 block as a matter of fact it will bolt on to any d-series motor... and for the part for " throwing so much money into a car a Si Civy or GSR is gonna roll on " Its not that hard to beat 99-00 Civic Si's w/ a D-series motor... my friend's CRX w/ a D16y8 and for those who don't know 96+ EX motor is taking GSR's and Civic Si's like it was a Camry.... and all my friend has on his car is the stock vtec motor, w/cam, short ram intake, headers w. a small dent and a catback exhaust....for a 5th gen to beat Civic Si's doesnt even cost that much.... Do a Mini Me Vtec head swap on that D15b7 basic intake header exhaust and a good cam along w/ the Si tranny should be able to handle the all mighty 99-00 Civic Si's... As Kesnut search in www.D-series.org good site w/ a lot of info on the underestimated D-series motor... oh yeh I am going DOHC but not going into the B-series sticking to the JDM ZC DOHC motor and turbo... looking forward to heading up against those famous B-series DOHC motors that everyone and there mom has...
