you probably need a new circuit board for the wiper motor, some are under a recall, but I don't think 98's were included. Do a google groups search for wiper and Jonathan Race, should find out how to fix or replace. Fixing involves resoldering a few joints where the wiring connector interfaces the board.

I am fairly sure that the 97 Blazers are covered, my brother had one and I think he mentioned getting a recall notice

If its not too much trouble, would you call your dealership and get the recall number and post it on here please?

What's funny(not funny ha ha) is that I have a 98 that has the problem, but they say that there are no recalls for my vehicle.

I feel your pain, They didn't want to do mine either
I went to GM Canada and gave them my VIN number and they said it was covered. I went back to the dealer and argued again with the service manager. Finally got it done.

Suggestion, Have the recall ID with you, a printout would be better, Just seems to put them off edge a little and more tending to give in. rather than going in and saying " I have a recall thingy that I want to have done" BTW don't call it a recall, call it a "campain ID". apparently to GM its 2 different things. and if you state it as a recall and you are wrong, they will not check the campains for you automatically.
A recall is a safty issue, something that could cause harm to a driver or passenger. ie; the seatbelt or seat that rips out of the floor in an impact. Don't laugh these vehicles have that defect too. See website stated earlier.
A Campain is something that has been found after the vehicle was in use for a while. Its not "really" a safty issue but your truck could just catch fire and burn up around you. (note the scarcasim) i.e. the AC system emits a foul Oder when you use it. This is also defect listed on the site listed above but since GM only gave you XX amount of time to have the problem fixed now the repair is approx $420 CDN to have done. ( I know I wanted to try and get that one done too, My A/C still smells)
As far as I am concerned they are all the same things. but GM splits them up into "safety" and "not-safty" related. Only the safty ones they will do with to much arguement because of goverment legislation.
