Hey all, my friend recently bought a 2.0l '89 Grand AM from his relatives something like 150k miles on it.
Off Topic: He had a chance to buy a newer Grand Prix for like 1k all it needed was a new gas tank, but for some reason he didn't get it. Now he has this problem car. :P
Back on Topic: At first the car worked, then after a day of driving the car wouldn't start up. The engine did turn over though, doesn't seem to spark. So we replaced the spark plugs and the wires. Still didn't work. Next we replaced the alternator. Worked for about a day then it crapped out again.
I haven't tested it for spark, I'm not too keen on being shocked :P I'll leave that up to him. But I'm thinking it might be the ignition coil? I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the carburater, might it? Never worked on a carburated car before.
EDIT: Also his power steering seems to be messed up, when he turns the wheel it makes a whirring noise.
Anyways, I'm secretly laughing at him. :) Anyhelp would be appreceated getting his hunk of junk working.
EDIT fixed some typos, total $ amount spent is around $300 plus price of car >=$600
