1991 Civic LX R.I.P.

Going downtown for senior prom, and person 3 cars up stops 50 ft before a green light. Hear's the crashes, and makes a run for it. I get blamed, get ticketed, and my car has been towed, radiator now sits at a 45 degree angle, and the hood is almost a pyramid. Both headlights knocked out, both borner headlights broken, and hanging. It's never coming back...

I need to invest in a newer car... prefarably with more safety features our cars lack there of.

*edit
Gets me thinking how possibly ABS could have helped a little bit, but then airbags could have caused me serious injury from me wearing glasses.

Sorry to hear about that. One of my good friends fell asleep at the wheel on a 45mph street (2 lanes each way and a middle lane) and drifted from one side to the other, and ran into a guy jogging and the lightpole. He is fine and is just soar and the guy who got hit has no broken bones, just some scrapes and everything...however my friend did have to be cut out of his car. I'll try and get a pic of it up real soon.

The ironic thing is, we had a yardsale yesterday and his mom stopped by and it was the first time our parents saw each other in a while and idk, im just glad everyone is alright.

Kennewick firefighters pull the roof off a car to remove the 17-year-old driver of a vehicle that was involved in an accident on Clearwater Avenue near West 10th Avenue late Saturday afternoon. Gene O'Neill, 51, was jogging on Clearwater and was struck by the vehicle after it drifted across four lanes of traffic and struck a light pole. O'Neill was in stable condition at Kennewick General Hospital.

I got a question, I was able to settle it all outside of insurance claims, because it was my friend that I hit. But as far as legal wise, I still got a ticket. Insurance should increase significantly less than if repairs have been reported right?

i don't know about your state however i can tell you what i have learned from wrecking in CA and OR...

if an accident damage is over $500 you are required by law to report it to the dmv. if that happens then your ins. will know for sure. a lot of people wreck and take care of damages never telling ins.

if you report an accident to ins. and they have to fork out money to fix the other car and/or yours then your rates will go up significantly. if you fix it yourself then your rates will go up (they view you as a possible future risk now) but not as much. most likely they will ask you up your coverage.

HMm... how about if i told my insurance, Im deciding to just tow my car to the junkyard because its too old and future risk?

amy@af

then you'll no longer have ins. they won't cover a car you're towing to the junkyard to scrap.

Heh, thats the idea.... plus I was opting for a 92+ model car anyways. I just want some more safety features.. you can never be too safe.

What kind of coverage did you have? If the cost to repair the car exceeds the blue book value then depending on your insurance policy they may be cutting you a check to replace your car.

That sucks man, glad to hear your ok. I got in my accident the day before prom. Seems to be some sort of weird coincidence.

BUT, if your getting rid of your car, might I ask what color your interior is? and if its grey, can I have your right visor.

A guy last year the day of prom was driving his moms Camaro z28 and came around a corner and went into a canal, with the top down. Needless to say that car was totalled, along with damage to the tux he had in the back.

Stripped out all I've needed from the car today (radio, speakers, etc..). Car's sitting there, and ready to be decided on. Im thinking of selling parts. I have a mint condition interior, no cigarette burns, no blemishes, maybe only a stain or two on carpet from previous owner. Hit me up with a PM. I DO have an integ console in there. Im not quite sure how I'd do shipping, but I might be getting an ebay account for these purposes. Hmm.. so hit me up with your PM's and I'll see what I can do.

PS: Interior is the light blue, close to grey I guess.

HMm.. just curious. Judging from that pic. How fixable do you think that is? in terms of DIY

*edit
For anyone experienced in body work, it was purely a front end collision, my front bumper actually went underneath my friends (its perfectly fine). So, what can you judge from that pic, that I may need to get replaced, besides the obvious.
