I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier just the basic plane jane.....4 door, most likely a SOHC, 4 cyl, auto, PS, PB, AC, its the 2.2 liter.....It makes a ticking noise like it the lifters, but it only does it when the motor warms up and the oil gets warm, when its cold in the morning or hasn't been ran for a while and its not up to operating temp then it doesn't make the noise.....Can anyone help me out......If so is it easy to fix, what do i need to fix it, how hard is it to fix, and etc.....? Thank You for your help...

Sound like it would be the lifters, but it should go away when warm. How old is the oil?

Try synthetic oil. It keeps it's viscosit5y better when it's hot out.

After awhile-take the cap off the valve cover and take ya a good sniff in there and see if ya smell anything other than oil-like fuel, f'rinstance which would thin your oil considerably.
