04 underbody light help

I have an 04 Cavalier, with the Razzi bodykit on it. I'm sure someone has seen it before. Anyways, I have 2 exaust tips. one is real the other is fake. the real one is on the left side of the car, if looking at it from the rear. I'd like to put on some LED light kits underneath it, and my question concerns the muffler and the heat it gives off. I've read it has to stay away from heat, however if I just have the end without the wire near the exaust pipe would it burn up, or should it be safe. It's not really touching it at all, but I jut want to see what other people think. It's the only way I can really mount it, and with the side skirts, should I place those tubes closer to the ground or higher up in the well that it has.

you almost have to have the tubes touching the exhaust for there to be a concern with them. if i was you, i'd put the bulbs higher up to prevent them from getting broke or cracked from bottoming out/kicked up rocks, else seeing the bulbs directly doesn't look as nice as just the lighted affect

You could even rig some sort of heat shield but I agree with perna00, as long as its not touching and if at all possible a couple of inches away, it should be fine. What brand of neons are they?
