alternator

my alternator went to day.. i ordered one earlier today and it gets here tuesady morning... i figured i would get started on it now since i hae never done it b4.. i started taking it apart(well parts to get to the alternator easily ) and once i got to it i cant figure out how to loosen the belts to get it off.. called someone he said the loosen the belt tensioner, i htink i found the belt tensioner( would it be the lil metal thing at the top of the belt drive system between the alternator and ac) if so then i cant figure ou thow to loosen it.. i tryed moving it by hand and that worked but i moved it like qtr inch then it would go right back into place... so bottom line is how do i get the this mfr off???

OKnevermind. i wnet out there just now put a lil xtra elbow grease into it and got it. now just waiting for part then i put back together. hope it is that easy
