93 Metro, not getting gas

93 metro was running fine when it was parked, it set for about 3 mos.
I tried to start it the other day and it would not start. Getting fire but no gas, I disconnected the feul line at filter and got gas. Disconnected line at carb. and no gas. I suspected fuel pump because I cannot hear it run, but I put a volt meter on the fuel pump wires under the back seat and turned the key on, I got 12V for about 2 seconds and the nothing.
Tried it several times with same outcome. Is this normal? Do I have an electrical problem or is it the fuel pump ???
Any feed back is appreciated.

2 seconds of power is normal. When the ignition key is turned ON, the ECM will energize the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump pressurizes the system to approximately 10 psi. If the ECM does not receive a distributor reference pulse (telling the ECM the engine is turning) within 2 seconds, the ECM will then de-energize the fuel pump relay, turning off the fuel pump.

Do you hear the fuel pump start? When is the last time you changed the fuel filter? Water in tank or bad gas? Sounds like possible fuel pump problem.

If you get gas at the filter, but not the engine, you could have a steel line that's corroded shut, like a clogged artery.

Yep, didn't think about that. Should have, as I know about clogged arteries. Had some, had heart attack, and got a few new arteries. Not a fun process... Jim
