I've got this god aweful ticking that starts when the engine is getting warm, so I was thinking about adjusting the valves (I just put the motor in no to long ago)

What should I look for, and how do I know exactly when each cylinder is at TDC?

So if you adjust your valves and the ticking doesn't go away then ! ?! !? ! I have this problem.

Then you have upper end damage or incorrectly adjusted valves. always adjust cold.

Yea I did adjust them when they were cold, they were still ticking right after I did the adjustment too. What exactly is "front end damage"?

Our injectors are pretty loud themselves too. They make a clicking noise when they open and close. So you may never really get rid of the noise.

Upper end damage is damaged/worn parts in your cylinder head. It could be anything from worn journals to bad bearing caps, rocker arms, valves, guides . . .basically anything that moves. For further cylinder head information - http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/2gsm/cylinder_head_valve_train.htm Before you going tearing stuff apart pin-point the noise using a stethascope(sp*?)
