strip paint

i need help on how to strip acrylic paint, ive tried the brake fluid but it didnt do anything, the paint is 'Halfords automotive paint' ,

Castrol Super Clean. Unless the paint "etched" into the plastic, There's really no way to remove it then, Have to sand it all out.

Halford's automotive paint isn't acrylic, it's acrylic lacquer
How long did you leave the paint in the brake fluid, the stripping isn't instantaneous, you may need to leave it in overnight or even several days.

Of course, as Josh mentioned, if it etched the plastic(which will happen if you didn't primer), you have a whole different problem.

Right at this moment I'm striping the paint with DOT3 brake fluid. For now there's no visible progress but the paint is getting sticky.

If may I jump in ... the brake fluid striped the paint completly :smile: . Than I soaked the model into water which had been added degreasing washing detergent. I let it bath for about 2 hours than changed water with a fresh one and repeated the process.
Today I took the body out and wash it under running water and put it in container to dry. Right now I was looking at the body and I think the plastic is melting. :eek7: Panel lines are melting together and plastic is kinda soft. If you press hard with a toothpick it leaves a mark - tiny hole. Similar is happening with 'rubbers' on bumpers and molded emblems.
Automotive plastic primer (I used DupliColor clear one) and paint also attacked the roof of the car - roof panel lines are off :disappoin
Now I'm soaking the body in water with added very little of washing detergent, but I think I can still see some brake fluid in door molds.

How can I wash off all the brake fluid? Is this brake fluid attacking the plastic or washing detergent? I'm also thinking about rubbing the body with salt, which 'drinks' (don't know the word) the water out?

yes brake fluid will remove paint too (must be dot 3) but it will attack putty and cement as well. so use carefully.
