90 grand prix sputters and stops

I have a 90 grand prix with 204,000 miles. It's a great car that my wife
wants me to put it to rest. My problem is that the sometimes the car starts real rough and stalls if I keep giving it gas it over comes and runs.
Another problem is when the car comes to a complete stop, after a long
drive, the engine starts to stall but not every time.

I'm looking for any suggestion I don't want to put to rest.

no it's not

I have a 1995 Grand Prix GTP that has the 3.4l in it and had a similar problem. The easiest way to diagnose what the problem is is simple. 1st have someone start the car and keep it running. Using a can of either carb cleaner or WD 40 spray it around the intake of the engine and around all vacumme hoses. If the engine revs go up when you spray the fluid then you have an intake leak. the gaskets for the intake are approx $55.00. Alldata labor chart calls for approx 3.9 hours labor to install the new gaskets.

Sounds like an EGR valve to me. One of the solenoids is sticking and messing up your air/fuel mixture.

I have a 90 that did the same thing. Replaced the crankshaft positon sensor. Cleared it right up
