I know you guys probably hate these threads by now but here it goes anyways. My cousin has recently aquired a '94 z28 with an automatic transmission and he is looking for some estimates on his car because
1) he's too cheap to go to a dyno
2) the weather hasn't coordinated with any of the friday drags since he got it :grinno:

So in an attempt to help him out I came to you guys :D. The only mods done to the car so far are a k&n intake setup, flowmaster exhaust, and LT1 cam.

Also just for my own knowledge I was wondering what the years are for the different generations of camaros.

Well, not knowing the cam specs I will just tell you that those motors come with 275hp. That being an automatic (AOD) however really will slow you down.

Low 14s high 13s is what I was expecting or so, I wasn't quite sure what the stock time would be since there are usually 500 f bods at the track every weekend all with different setups.

I'm assuming that most parts are interchangable; engine (just about any small block) and suspension within the same generation, is that correct?

i think stock is mid 14

nope, engine parts are not compatible....It is a Gen II small block so the heads, intake, water pump, and all that is specific for the Gen II. it is not just any small block.

Is this because of electronics or are they just physically different? What years have the g2 small block?

All LT motors, in Vettes, Impalas, camprices, etc are Gen II smallblocks.

Thanks but that didn't answer my question.

surry, didnt see the years deal, 1993-1996 had the G2 small block, but you can tell by looking at it. they have the distributor on the front of the engine. rather than the back behind the intake. few other differences but thats the easiest to tell by. very obvious.

actually the LT1s were in camaros until 1997. The reason the original small block heads wont work is because the LT1 has reverse flow cooling heads (head to block then to radiator). Older small blocks have regular flow heads (block to heads then radiator). This wont allow one to put older heads onto an LT1 or vice versa.

So his car is a '94 then him having the "LT1" cam is stock...the fool tried to play me I tell ya! Kinda sucks about the incompatability thing though.

Well my cousin finally got a chance to run his car yesterday due to the extremely nice weather in KC. He never fails to amaze me at how crappy he can drive and this just went to prove it even more. He ended up with a 15.1@93. Is it really that hard to launch an automatic?
