Blown Head gasket.

:naughty: I just picked up a 86 Camaro for 2g's. It is the Z28 with the 305 tuned port fuel injected engine. The car is in very good condition. No major damage. Beautiful body. Minimal rust. I have been working on it since I got it. I lost a belt the first day I drove it and then I replaced all of them. It started to knock really bad and I had a big loss in horse. I changed the oil and had the guys change the rear axle oil which they said needed changed. Changed the plugz, which weren't tight, hoping that was the problem. It wasn't and it still knocks. :disappoin Then Got a timing light hoping that was the problem. It was off a lot. I left the car and went to work. The next moring I was going to time it. Started her up and ran it for a minute as you are supposed to have it warmed up to time it and stihhhhhhhhh. Aww $h!t I shut her off when I seen the white smoke and I hopped out and to my supprise coolant all over the ground and my overflow tank gargling for more coolant. :eek: I have been told this was the head gasket witch I beleive, but I am coming here to verify it. :banghead: Please I would like everyones input and if you have any suggestions for this car put them here. I want this baby to scream down the road. Also I need an Idea for a new muffler and would like ideas that will increase horse without breaking the bank, OH wait I did that when I got the car. HELP PLEAZE. I lOVE all you out there that are willing to help a Car retard like me. I have a little knowledge and can do most of it myself just have no garage or time.

So did all the coolant come out of the overflow tank? Was the white smoke comin from the exhaust or under the hood? Check your oil, thatl tell you if you've got a blown headgasket.. If the oil's still clean, and at proper level, you should be ok.. Check your dipstick and under the oil cap, look for a milky white or mayo looking substance, that usually indicates antifreeze in your crankcase.. Also, look for oil in your rad

IT came from the middle of the engine, it did not overflow and I am still afraid to look in the oil. But the smoke came from the exhaust when the coolant was puring on it. I Seen something on here that said that the head gasket could have blown from piston to piston causing a loss of compression and a $h!te running engine. I think maybe that was part of it then it blew out the side of the gasket also. I could not see exactly where it was coming from the condenser for the air conditioning was in the way.

Well the most sure-fire way to tell is to do a compression check... I think compression should be inbetween 100-150psi with about 15%max variation between cylinders..
