Damn that nismo looks crazy. I know the aftermarket rims they make are really good but are the Aoshima car kits good quality?

Our Price : 1,900 yen
Not really that tricky to find if you clicked the links in Chris's post.
Have to say the Nismo shell looks pretty impressive - nice wheels too. Might give this one a go.

They have the bonnet and bumpers seperate from the body, and clear color molded rear lights. Looks like a modeler friendly kit.

Well, I've pre-ordered the Nismo from HLJ as I have a lot of stuff on backorder there anyway. Plus Hobbysearch take longer to despatch and sting me on the postage a lot more.
It's worth buying just for the wheels :D

Gio
probably no !
anyway, the R34 Tamiya is less expensive, for the Nismo one, it's a good price, and kit look good (aoshima are usualy good)

Tamiyas R34 comes in VspecII form with LMGT4 rims and different wing for 1800 yen, better deal than Aoshimas.

Well, as for the Nismo version, the Tamiya is a better deal. The Nismo wheels are way accurate, as for the body kit S.A.S maybe if you have the resources. I just found out that the hood of the Aoshimas are solid, the vents has no holes, a downside IMO.

hmmm, wow, another Skyline kit :screwy:
If you can't tell by my scarcasm I not a big fan of Skylines, it looks like a nice kit, but personally I think they could've spent the tooling on something better, like a Sentra SE-R, or a Maxima

Well, I will admit I'm not impressed with the apparently molded in exhaust from the cat forward and the poor detail of the front suspension compared to the Tamiya kit.
But having all of the Nismo parts in one kit with decals, and the fact that the Aoshima kit is looking like it's going to have many more versions on the way since Aoshima has made it easy to switch around hoods, sills, and bumpers.
I'm, quite frankly, sold on the kit's versatility. Now I'll just need to have one of the Rivet Counters get their hands on it to measure out the body for accuracy.

Sounds like a great source for parts and decals to use on the Tamiya kit....

Get a good knife and problem solved. You know, you can make some modification to a kit..

^ yeah but honestly how cheap can ya be jeez.
no engine detail. molded downpipe and cat.. poor suspension.. vents aren't... vented :dunno: models are supposed to be extremely realistic.. if I wanted something that looked like a toy I'd buy a toy.
anyways, chris are you ever gonna make those NISMO stripes? I need a couple sets! ;)
NISMO edition looks ok even though all and all its kinda disappointing.

models are supposed to be extremely realistic..
I wouldn't expect "extreme" details from a kit of 1800Yen !
If you want extreme details, get:
1 Tamiya R32 for the engin (20$)
1 Tamiya R34 Spec II (25$)
1 SAS Trans kit (18$)
so 63$ vs 16$

The Tamiya R34 VSpec II LMGT4's are nice but they're standards...which you would never find on a Skyline. The Aoshima LMGT4's look real good but the most convincing LMGT4 by far comes from the Xanavi Nismo GT-R. The extra step I took to switch LMGT4's is going to pay off big time in the end as far as realism and look. Of course the Xanavi center cap has to be modified into a 5-sided cap but that's no big deal. No lug holes either for the black ones. A lot of the Z-Tune run the LMGT4 without the exposed lug holes.

the easier it becomes for modelers to accept less then great models the easier it becomes for model companies to sell less then great models.
no reason they cant add more detail. they've researched the cars they've made molds.. whats to stop them from adding another couple ounces of plastic to the kit and make an engine and finer detail? five dollars? ten? I would gladly pay it. And sometimes we do pay extra (*cough* tamiya *cough*) and STILL don't get engine detail etc..
hey its only my :2cents: .. if you guys are satisfied with the detail level, es cool ;)
car models without engines. everywhere. whats next? planes without wings? battleships without guns?

I like cars w/o engines because I am a lazy modeler. :iceslolan
It could be worse cars w/o wheels... :lol2:
I know, I know that was corny....
