I want one . . . REALLY want one.
Just because it is one of the cars that you see few of, you know?
Not to mention the craftmanship. The speed actuated rear spoiler was the first I had ever heard of. Next to the 911 of course, but I can't remember which was marketed first . . .
Then too there's the Mitsu 3000 VRGT with the speed actuated front chin spoiler . . .

I'd love to have one too. They are just so cool, and they aren't like the viper or hummer, where everybody and their dog wants one. Car guys know that they are all that, but everone else is like, so what?

Wouldn't you like to know... it's a really big inside joke, some friends were watching the Chldren of the Corn, and we Decided it would be much more scary if it was a corn yeti instead of some kids. I mean, is there anything worse than a corn yeti? It's so unpredictable! But really, it's nothing.

I *had* one ('90 G60), but just sold it last week....
True, it's kinda rare and fairly exciting to drive (first gear redlines at 25 mph? VROOM VROOM!) But it just had TOO many problems (at least mine...).

I have 2 corrados, one '90 g-60 and a '93 SLC. The SLC rules, but the g-60 is the most bang for the buck. For less than a grand you can build a stage 4 g-60 that will put down about 175 horse @ the wheels, give or take. With the substantial weight difference a g-60 done right will roast a N/A VR6 on the highway any day of the week... twice on sundays. But the VR6 corrado will be a much nicer car to drive. They are two totally different cars.

Have had my 92 SLC for about 5 months now and I don't think I will ever sell it. It's just too nice of a car. Previous car was a Supra and I must say they are very different but I like my V-Dub better. The car seems to be perfect the way it is. ( make no mistake I want to make it a hell of a lot faster, but... ) The Corrado is definitely a car worth purchasing ; it's rare, quick, very well built , and a chick magnet. Gotta love the Rado' :)

I have a 90 VW Corrado G60. Well sorta, I put an 87 16v engine in the car, built the engine up with forged pistons, shaved head, bored out to 2.0 with a 1.8 head, ringed the block, valve springs, ported and polished intake, blueprinted engine, exhaust, had a fuel rail made up to use digifant fuel injection, had a custom chip made up, had the supercharger rebuilt. The car hasn't been on a dyno yet, nor have I run it down the track, as soon as the engine is broken in I will be installing nitrous, and taking it to the tracks. No need to say it is really FUCKEN QUICK... I love corrado's, wish VW would get on the ball, and re release another car. The corrado's are notorious for bad tranny's, and anything electrical.
LONG LIVE THE VW!!!

If you do in fact have a 16V G60...how much did you pay for the conversion kit? What size pulley are you running?
I know a friend with this same setup, dynoed 186 whp or so. Don't recall TQ. This was with a 78mm pulley.

well it is still under some construction, I am using the stock pulley on the G60, but I had the charger rebuilt by a local performance shop, they used aftermarket seals, it is pushing about 10psi at 9000 rpm's, as for the kit I didn't use one, I am using the corrado motor mounts, they basically bolted on to the 16v block. I had a fuel rail made up to use the digifant fuel injection. I currently only painted the engine compartment, but will be painting the rest of the car soon... This is my second corrado, I had it a little over a year, my first corrado had a bad fuel pressure regulator, and I had an aftermarket fuel pump. When the fuel pressure reg. failed. The stock fuel rail is plastic, and it cracked spraying fuel all over the hot exhaust, I don't need to tell you what happened next, the car was totaled, the computer and all the wires burnt up. I was only 17years old, and did not know how to fix it at the time, so I didn't keep the car, it was in perfect shape, I used to show it in vw shows on the east coast, I miss that car, so I hope to have this car ready for shows by spring...

9000 RPM? If you're talking about engine RPM I'm calling BS. There is no way you're running your engine to 9 grand, in fact this whole home-brew 16 valve conversion of yours sounds a little shady, but I could be wrong. There aren't many 16v G60s in the world, there's only a handful, at best, of running ones in the US. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I'm calling BS.

any 16v with propper electronics can hit 9000rpm's that is beyond peak hp of the engine, but it creates the most boost at that speed. You don't know much about a 16v vw engine if you don't think it will rev that high. The first problem is usually the hydrolic lifters, but with an aftermarket high flow oil pump, which is needed to supercharge a 16v anywho, the lifters are happy at 9000rpm's, I have gotten up over 9000rpm's, my tach neetle doesn't go any higher, so I can't say what the real top is. A VR6 or stock 8v won't rev this high, however I know someone with a 2.0L 8v in a vw rabbit running on alcohol with 4 side draft carbd that claims to rev to 9k on track shifts, I haven't seen it with my eyes, but... It isn't an impossible speed. My 4cylinder bike does 14000rpm's, and quickly. I do have some pics of the work in progress, no current pics after installations, I will get them scanned, and have them available on my web page soon... Maybe to make you happy, I will take a pic of my tac as I rev the negine out to 9k :) :alien:

Congrats to the new Corrado owners! If any of you G60 guys have questions about repairs, modifications, etc, feel free to drop me a line. Chances are I can help you out, or at least point you in the right direction.
I recommend Gruven for their customer service, Mike (the owner) is a friend of mine. Apart from another G-Lader, you also have a few other options. I've been through modded G-Laders, turbo kits, and I am now using a Lysholm supercharger (Bahn Brenner).
Good luck with the cars, guys! Mine's about to come out of hibernation with the Lysholm charger @ 18 psi, front mounted intercooler, balanced bottom end with Total Seal ringset, and a few other goodies. If you want more details, mail me, as I don't check this forum often. TTYL!

Oh by the way if you ever make it over to Lancaster, PA or go to waterfest, I will give you a ride... Then you will experience a thrill..
By the way, my next project is a turbo charges W8 engine in a corrado, just need some more money, but I have plans for the turbo, and exhaust manifold lined up, and I drew up wiring diagrams to make the engine work in a VR6 corrado... So if anyone knows of a VR6 corrado, with a blown engine, let me know... Thanks...
