Please help *IAT location*

Hi people:
I own a 1.3 1996 4 door Geo Metro. Recently I found over the IAT resistor thing to make the ECU free a little bit more engine HP. The thing is that I can not locate the IAT sensor. Can anyone give me some help telling where to search for it?. Maybe a picture?

The only sensor I could easy find is the O2 sensor at the mannifold (engine exahust exit). Is the same the O2 sensor and the IAT one?

If your talking about the Intake Air Temperature sensor, it is located in the air cleaner hood. Its function in life is to report the incoming air temp to the ECM. If you brought the "resistor" off of e-bay that is suppose to raise engine horsepower by 20, then you wasted your money cause it doesn't work.

All it does is change the output signal coming from the sensor to make you engine think it's still cold. It will idle high, run really rich, eventually burn out a valve, and fill your cylinders, and exhaust system, especially the cat converter, with loads of carbon. And it'll kill your gas mileage. You'll feel about a 2-3hp boost, but not for long, once your valve seats fill with carbon.

Thanks a lot for the info geozukigti. In fact, I tried the mod last weekend and as you said, my engine raised quite a bunch its power. Now, the thing is: is there anything I could do to prevent the carbon crap?

Heh, there is no real way to get rid of carbon deposits in a motor without taking it apart. When you run rich, you get carbon deposits. I ran my last metro open loop, and If you'd like, i'll send you a few pics of what it did to the inside of my header, and my exhaust ports on the head. They have about a 1/4" layer of carbon from 1 year of driving. And I had no cat converter. Lack of emissions testing in Michigan rocks. :ylsuper:
