Hey, I can get a really good deal on an intake (like 40 bucks) and I'm wondering how much work it'll take to put it on my car. all the sensors, tb, and fuel system parts are just bolt on right? anything else i will need and are there any how-to's out there.

been wanting to do the same for a while... all i keep getting for a response is stick with the dx intake mani or get a high flow dx one. as for work... i helped my friend take off his intake mani off of his turbo supra and it takes about 1 hour and yes its pretty easy. just take hoses and bolts off and put on where they were originally.

What I've been told is the Y8 mani is for better low to mid power, and A6 mani is for more high end power.

Either one is WAY better to use than the crappy Y7 I/M. I'm looking to upgrade my Y7 mani to a Y8 one as soon as I can find one.

so it is possible?
and the high end power one... which car is that for and whats the full engine code...? and iis a vertical thottle body one or horizontal like the y8?

damn ebay, i love it when people put no reserve price but cancel it when they dont get enough money :headshake anyway, what kinds of gains would you see with a cai and a a6/y8 manifold? i'd guess only a 10-15 hp with an exhaust maybe?

Yup, about 15hp increase with Y8 I/M swap. Figure base wheel hp stock is about 92hp or so (on a D16Y7 motor) and swapping for a Y8 I/M and a good CAI will bump the wheel hp to roughly 107! Add a 272 grind Delta Cam and some very minor P&P work and you'll be at 117 wheel hp!

wow, that'll be much better on all the hills around here. another question, what would a mini-me swap do? bring it up to stock ex hp or more? would the y8 head be any different than the a6?

Ahh, the great D-series head debate. Some will argue A6 is better (has a disputed better flow through it mmany will say) while the Y8/Z6 heads will both add VTEC to a non-VTEC motor. really it just comes down to if you want VTEC or not. If yes, then go Y8, if it's not a priority, then go A6.

For the intake manifolds, it's the D16A6 mani is the one for better high end, and the D16Y8 mani is for the better low to mid power increase.

If either of these intake mani's are goping onto a D16Y7 motor, then make sure the mani comes with a throttle body as I'm unsure if the Y7 T/B will work in a horizintal setup, and I highly doubt it will, but don't quote me on that.

Good info/debate on A6/B7 head vs. Y8 head (http://sohchonda.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=3250) when concerning a mini-me head swap.

so if you do swap the y8 head onto a y7 motor.. will you also need the ecu that was originally paired with the y8 motor

thanks for the info. i had heard that the tb will still work, just have to do some modding to the cable since its not exactly in the right spot. are there any differences in the power of a y8 vs a6? (sorry i havent looked at the link yet so just slap me if that info is in there)

p.s. i won a "92-00 Civic SI Intake Manifold D16Z6, D16Y8, D15" for $41. what year it is exactly i dont know cos he didnt answer my question, but oh well its better than stock so im happy.

does anyone have a dyno sheet of a stock y7 and then a print out after the y8 im was added?

I'm sure there's one out there somewhere... :bloated: if I find one, I'll post it up :)

I've read that A6 pistons also do wonders for D-series motors. I think I read a jump to about 10:1 compression.
