my auto insurance is 550 a month for full coverage, with out the recent ticket and with out them knowing that it's a 3000 GT, so i'm looking at around 650 a month... and to add.. it's a red car....
i dont' know if driving is worth the price anymore....

haha, ok, first off to deal with the ticket, I hope you are arguing it. Go to www.beatmyspeedingticket.com get his book and beat the ticket in court.
Next, to lower your insurance, take defensive driving, ask them if you get good grades if they will lower your insurance, get an aftermarket alarm, get your VIN etched into each window, tell them you have daytime running lights....blah blah blah get deductions because insurance on these is hard enough already.

$550 a month??? Damn, that's crazy. Who's your insurance carrier?

mx6rrr, what happened with your illegal exhaust? Did they make you remove it? How much was the ticket for that modification?

sLADe781 the officer made me get it fixed/replaced within 15 days....basically I had factory exhaust with "hi-flow" cat and no muffler (well pipe was cut just before the muffler and supprisingly it sounded awesome) :) so all i had to do was hook up the pipe again and it was all good, the cat was just a standard cat and i cut out the center and ran a pipe through it...I thought it was a good idea, but oh well....
i agree with u greekpower...but no, it wasnt a folgers or maxwell. ;)

Some counties have a decibel limit, I don't know if it's an actual law or not, plus no cop carries a decibel meter...so it's kind of screwed up that they can write a ticket on it. But all you gotta do is go to court and say you are fixing it, bolt the stock exhaust back on, they drop the ticket, you bolt your aftermarket back on. Also you can have an illegal exhaust if you have a custom exhaust and it's not certified...or something. I guess it's the same thing as not being CARB rated for emissions. But my friend had a custom exhaust on his TA with a 355 crate engine. He pissed off a cop and the cop ticketed everything possible on his car, including his custom exhaust.

yup. that is EXACTLY how it is in Australia. If you have an aftermarket exhaust the will give you a yellow sticker. This means that you will have to take the car over the pits and get the entire car checked out (at your expense) and you pretty much have to take of anything that doesnt comply with ADR (Astralian Design Rules) so that means pretty much anything after market they can pull you over for even if you arent speeding.

A mate of mine got pulled over, when he wasnt speeding, so they could give him a yellow sticker for having a BOV. It gets quite rediculous over here. i know in the eastern states of Australia if you get caught doing a burnout by police they impound the car that is doing it (EVEN IF IT ISNT YOUR CAR) so if you get caught in your parents car then that will get impounded for 3mths automatically.

.... Stupid anti-hoon laws....

Just got my first ticket on Thursday. Well it was actually just a fine cause the cop didn't actually clock me. He was just being a jerk harrassing a teen driving a nice car because there were 2 cars in front of me going just as fast. Oh well, at least i don't get any points and it's not on my record. Just have to pay the fine and be done with it.

I'd seriously go to court and argue it. If the cop just wrote you a fine, it means A) he didn't clock you, and B) he thinks you would argue it in court anyways, so he is giving you no points just so you wont care enough, and his county will get the money and he will get a +1 on his quota. Seriously, the only ticket I didn't fight was a 20 dollar seatbelt ticket.

550 a month?!? $6,600 a year in insurance? I'd look around for a different insurance company. Thats crazy. DUI drivers after a second offense don't pay that much.

I'm a 19 year old male, so if anybody's insurance is gonna be outrageous, its mine! I pay 200 a month (full coverage of course) which is almost 2 much bc I gotta pay car payments too. I got the base and I'm savin up enough money to do some mods. YoungVR4, are you about my age cuz at $370 a month, I couldn't even make 1 month's payment!

i was racing a Eclipse, Galant and my friends Mustang on the freeway back in like November. turns out the cop clocked us from the off ramp and had to catch up. we crossed the bridge and were already on the island, everyone went they're own way and i stoped at the light, he got right behind me and when i took off i got up to little over 65 and he pulled me over. turns out i was in a construction zone...so the speed limit was 55. i didn't have a front license plate, i had my new stickers but they weren't on yet and it was the first of the month :banghead: . drug my ass out of the car, he said he didn't know who he clocked doing 115 so he couldn't give me a ticket for that, so he was going to get me for a handful of other things(115 was the mustang, i was in the 130s :evillol: ) told me to put hands on the car, spread my legs...lol...asked me if i was doing any raceing that night and i said, "nah :nono: ." asked me if i was trying to impress the ladies to get laid, and i said "always :iceslolan ." kept me in the back of his car till everything was cleared, wrote me a ticket for like 15mph over and told me to go home. i forgot about the ticket and it turned into a warrant...i think i should go take care of it, but i'm busy with work and school...my mom told me to turn myself in, they couldn't keep me for more than 72hrs because it was a misdimeanor. since the warrant came out, i've been on my best behavior. :grinno:
