I have a 90 maxima and I want to put a new engine in it, could I put a VTEC or maybe something out of the newer models in it? And how broke would that make me?

If you really into the idea of a motor swap you might wanna try the SR20DET Nissan Motor.....its a smaller motor im sure it would fit but you would have to redo you tranny and ECU and your exhuast...but you would have a turbo charged motor with 205Hp....

I'm almost sure VTEC is a Honda only thing but Nissan's version of Variable Timing is called Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System. It makes constant, precise adjustments to the opening and closing of the valves based on rpm and throttle position. Which ultimately delivers optimum power and emissions in all cases, all the time. It cannot be added on to the best of my knowledge. If it was it would probably be expensive.

I found JDM NISSAN SR20DET S13 RED TOP ENGINE/TRANS, it comes with the exhaust stuff, and transmission, but mine is automatic, this is manual, would it make any real difference? I also found a nismo ecu that's supposed to work with this engine, do I need anything else?
