EvoVII at LA show- almost got inside it

I was going to be so cool, like Makinenrally:sun: but alas, I was foiled.

I flew out to the LA Auto Show, and saw the Evo VII there, which as you all know, is roped off. So I asked if I could maybe come back at the end of the day and see the engine, sit inside, etc. The guy goes and talks with another guy, and they say sure. "Come back around 10-ish" and they will let me in. Woo hoo! This was Friday btw. So, ten comes and I am back. They grab a set of keys, stop the spinning display, and we hop the metal barrier.
Wrong key. Doh!

They spent the next 45 minutes going through every key there, and they were all the wrong key. They were all bummed since they were supposed to move the cars around for the weekend, and now they were screwed, too. They totally apologized for screwing up, and I was just, "Hey, it was totally cool to even say yes!"

Anyway, I am not as cool as Makinenrally, sorry. I was even gonna have photos of the engine and dash and shee-it.

Guess I will just have to take photos of my Evo when I get it.

So close yet so far away...

:eek2: We were counting on you.
So did you atleast get to touch it?

I got to try all the doors and press my face against the window, looking to see if the keys were inside.

It was like a chick that lets you in her house, and feel her up over her clothes, but then she won't let you go any further. I had a big boner, then had to go home and flog the dolphin.
Ha ha ha

They said there were only two sets of keys:
One there (lost) and one in Detroit. Hope they didn't get in too much trouble, since they were really so cool.

She had the "bust my window, hotwire me, and drive me off this stage and out the door" look. But I didn't wanna bust her cherry so hard like that. I wanted to just ease in, her being a virgin up there like that.

Yeah, I may have to drive/fly to the Chicago show if the Evo is there, just to have another try at it. Second date, could be the one where I get to second base!

I think all EVO's at motorshows are roped off or on a turn table. They must be aware of us self-obsessed EVO freaks who will kill to touch them, let alone drive.

Long live EVO freaks World-wide! :)

At least not according to the Mitsu website.

Hope that doesn't upset you too much wonderspark!!

you know what they should do? they should give us a bottle of wax and a rag and let us wax them in order to satisfy our needs. :jump:

wonderspark

Well, I got to stare at it in LA for eleven hours, minus a little jaunt around the show now and then, so I am ok for now. :silly2:

I would have waxed it all day, and gladly given the interior a good going-over! :coolguy:

Wow, Mitsubishi are teasing you guys big time. I was at the autosport show in Birmingham, UK at the weekend. They had an EVO VII on display. It was not ropped off and the guys where only too pleased to open the car and let me sit inside. Also had a look at the engine bay.

BTW The sticker price was USD43500.

wonderspark
01-15-2002, 12:06 PM
Yeah, they taunt and tease, and even make us wait, but they royally rook you chaps on prices over there! Why is every car about 25% more expensive in the UK?

00'Civic SR
01-15-2002, 12:19 PM
You think the UK price is bad it will be closer to USD48-50000 in Ireland. Most things are more expensive over here than in the US. That's just the way it is and we have to live with it

wonderspark
01-15-2002, 12:30 PM
Yeah, but at least you get the cars. I can't have one at any price at the moment.

Plus you have real beer!

Price is about the same in the Netherlands. No warranty included, though. You sign the contract, pay the money and drive off.

Mitsu NL does not offer the car, it's all done through grey imports. Scooby Sti will be a bit cheaper..... (around USD42000).

I don't see where it says it will be there, in Denver, but then it doesn't show it in Detroit, either, and there are supposedly two of them, I think.

I thought the car logo on the side of the location/date meant that those cars would be there, but it doesn't matter; I'll be there anyway, grillin' the mitsu folks...

i wouldnt go by the mitsu web site. no car was listed there for the philly auto show but the sss was there. i took pics of it but i gotta get them developed. they never update their web site anyway. and i dont believe for a minute that they arent bringing the evo to the ny auto show. the ny and l.a. ones are the biggest in the country. i am almost positive it will be there. i cant wait! i think i am probably going to cry when i see it, like how those girls react to seeing boy bands. i've been obsessing over this car for so long now and to actually be able to see it... just forewarning that if anyone is at the ny auto show and you see some girl hysterically crying, being dragged away from the evo, its me hehe. ;)

I hope it comes to the houston show, prolly wont though. Man, if any stupid show models get in the way of my seeing the car, they'd better watch out, I don't care how bikini clad they are. If you see some chick in a bikini getting carried away from the evo on a stretcher with a black eye, she got in my way. lol, jk, I would probably just tell her to get the fuck out of the way.:cwn27:

It'll be pretty bad with me, too... I'll be prostrating myself before the car, making offerings and burning incense, sacrificing virgins (yeah, right, like I'd waste one) and all other sorts of bizarre rituals

The squirrels will definitely be there, chattering away in choir robes, as I do my james brown as a preacher in 'The Blues Brothers' impression...

Me know wanta travel to Seatlle Wa, so me travel to "City of Brown Cloud." Do they allow Goat sacrificing in Denver? Me bring um Native friends, and we will do the spiritual EVO dance. Me known as "Crazynut who dances with Metalgod," by my Cherokee relatives.

How many horses it take to pull one of these...?
Does any one know how tight security is...?
Or does any one know how to hot wire one of these...?:evillaugh

Oh and does any one know how tight security is at one of these...?

No goats in denver metro, but you can perform the sacrifice in Boulder (the closest town that allows that)..

As for security, I can have a strike team take them out whenever we need; hotwiring- I dunno, but I bet I could figure it out!

Viva La resistance.
Ok, well assemble at 0-900 hours on the morning of the show.
We'll need to secure a strong hold, and a route out of the city.
Our strike teams need to be in position by that time.
Tell as little as possible, being that there are only five seats inside the car...unless we should take another for safety measures...?
So many cars, how do you choose, so little time.
Ok "Operation HERBY" will commence at 0-1000 hours, same morning.
I'll keep you posted.

Respect my auth-or-i-tie.
Cartman, when he is a deputy highway patrolman, pulling people over with his trycycle, and beeting them with his billy club.
South park rules.
They need to make one where the boys steel cars and race-em.
I was so eager to drive when I was 4 or 5, I drove my dads 76 Dodge truck through the center divider of our garadge.
When I get my evo, its gonna be the same feeling...WOW this is cool.
