I have an 88 Accord LX. So anyways, if I push my pedal too hard my car begins to hesitate, 'chug' and rapidly lose power. Could this be my O2 sensor? My induction being dirty? Also, is there any way for me to clean my induction without paying someone? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

could be. are you getting a CEL? check the code under your driver seat. if you don't get a code, check to see if you are getting spark/fuel. try asking this question on 3geez.com they may be able to help you there.

I think that asking on 3geez would be the best bet. Your car is carborated not fuel injected so it could be something wrong with the carb. But I would check the ignition system first, mainly the distributor, wires, cap, rotor and coil.

oh yeah those were carbureted weren't they... forgot that... most carbs have a power enrichment circuit for accelerating during heavy loads and an accelerator pump which will add fuel when the throttle is quickly opened... sounds like the engine is starving for fuel when you lay on it which could be caused by either one of those circuits being faulty...

So, how might I go about troubleshooting these and determining the problem? Thanks again.

Please note, it shouldn't be the cap, rotors or wires, as I just changed all of those. What are the chances it's a spark plug? any? And how do i find out if it's one of those circuits?
