I just bought my first 280ZX after waiting 18 years. The car is straight and still original. Needs some TLC and a few minor repairs.
I would like to know if anyone has experienced a clicking noise in the engine area. It almost sounds like a lifter but not sure, it is a constant click click click when running and gets faster with higher RPM's. I am going to have it checked out but would like to know if anyone can clue me in on what this might be, and what the cost is to fix.
I am also looking for new seats or like new used ones. Please Help.
thanks and Z on..baby

Welcome to the age of technology. That there noise is called fuel injection. This is perfectly normal, as the noise is caused by the injectors being fired.

I have been experiencing the same clicking noise just as you described. I have had the car for quite a while and this is not the way the injectors normally should sound.
If you had the item fixed can you tell me what the problem was and the cost to fix it.
Thanks

Have a look at your exhaust manifold gasket.
this was my problem, a small hole at the back near the firewall
