If i don't want to do the tt conversion because it sounds kinda complicated what do you reccomend for upgrades "one turbo". Will it be complicated to put one turbo in, and how much would it cost to buy the turbo and get it put in.

Unless your a godly mechanic, the chances your going to build your own single turbo kit for this car is second to none. However, there are people on the 3si forums that make the single turbo kit and sell them. My friend in town is buying one from a guy a couple hours away for 1800$. It is actually supposed to be somewhat faster than the TT since the turbo is somewhat more powerful. TT is the easiest and cheaper way to go though.

It can't be faster than the TT conversion because of the 10:1 pistons, you might have a much bigger turbo, but its pointless if you can't max it out because you hit knock.

A NA to TT conversion is going to be easier than a NA to single turbo conversion.

It will be easier becasue you can use the stock parts from the TT 3S. 3si is the best spot to resarch the changes that you would have to make.

Are you running the stock 10:1? The Vr-4 have 9:1 don't they? Are there any ways to stop knock without lowering the compression or boost, like how do you get faster after hitting max boost? (besides weight loss)

I am running 10:1 currently, and VR-4s run 8:1, but i am about to go to 8:1 and upgrade to td05 turbos. You can stop knock, but only to a certain extent by either getting some sort of propane injection or alcohol injection, and you can do things such as retard the timing on your car to avoid knock, but you'd have to constantly tune and be REALLY good in it, which is not worth it IMO. As for the turbos, if you use stock TT injectors, you will hit fuel cut before you run out of boost, of course you wont be able to hold that much boost to redline with the stock injectors. Unless you planning on somehow fitting a T88 or some big turbo like that, i'd stay with twins, i haven't seen any numbers on the singles yet, but there are a lot of 11s on the vr-4s. Plus, as big as our engines are, you'd have to get a pretty massive turbo to feed them, you'd have to have a turbo that is capable of flowing at least 500 cfm to compete with the stock turbos, and even then it wont hold much boost to redline because it can't feed a lot of air. Look on www.stealth316.com, and click on turbo upgrades. There is a nice little chart of how much cfm your turbo needs to flow at increments of 5 psi to be able to hold its boost effeciently.
