hey guys I just threw a new exhaust system on my gs-t, and I wanted to let you guys know about it. new to the Market, the NEW Factory Sound 740 Muffler.
When I went searching for a new exhaust system that would give me the best performance gains and the best sound (by best sound I mean one that is nice and deep, so that you can hear the turbo spooling over the exaust...not one of those annoying ass loud 'ricer" mufflers.) and I found it! I used custom 3" piping from the cat back and an apexi downpipe, and this muffler.
ill tell you guys allittle bit about it because i think eveyone should have one, I have never been so happy with the sound and performance of my exhaust.
The 740 muffler is a free-flowing design and is unlike any other mufller in the industry using the new Rotary-Flow technology. Dyno testing has shown significant increaced horespower and torque on cars. The open ended design of the muffler contributes to the low throaty sound that the 740 is known for.
THEORY OF OPERATON:
The key to improving any exhaust system is to reduce pumping loses and improve exhaust scavenging. Pumping loses is the power it takes from the engine to push the exhaust out of the exhaust system, while scavenging is the ability to pull exhaust gases from each cylinder during each exhaust stroke.
740 PRIMARY SECTION:
As exhaust travels down an exhaust pipe, it travels in a series of exhaust gas pulses. As these exhaust pulses flow through the primary section of the 740 muffler, they are rotated and smoothened over by internal rotating veins.
740 MIXING CHAMBER:
the exhaust leaves the primary section and enters the mixing chamber through a special "siphon flange". which causes fresh air to be sucked in through the fresh air intake and mixed with the exhaust gases within the mixing chamber. This action creates a siphon effect on the exhaust system reducing pumping loses and improving exhaust scavenging, thus increasing overall horespower and torque.
I bought this muffler for 175.00, I had a greddy evo on there and heard many other kinds of mufflers on the eclipses and this one in my opinion blows them away. i dont know if they are sold online yet, but if anyone is interested in getting one let me know and i will post the phone number of the only place i know that sells them. (will work on all eclipses, whether you have 2.25 - 3 inch exhaust piping it will work because of how the inlet on the exhaust is designed)
peace

You are a fool for paying 175 for a muffler.
You would be faster without an exhaust at all.

ya, 175 for a muffler is way too much, but his price may have included the custom piping and install, in which case it may be worth it. i paid 200 for a full custom DP-back exhaust installed and i felt it was a pretty good deal at the time...

Doubt it... "I bought this muffler for 175.00"
But yea that is way too much, I got my cat back for 293 shipped. And a muffler should not be more than 100.

I hate seeing those magazines and vendor sites where they would charge $250 for a damn muffler. It's sad too because the ricers out there actually pay for it.

AAA Custom Mufflers, Newport Beach, CA. 2.5" DP-back test pipe, custom bent pipes to a Bullet straight thru muffler and a SS polished tip. it was all acctually like 180-something welded and installed in like 20 minutes.

mmk people...
to clear things up it was 175 for the muffler and the custom cat back piping...then it was like 200 bux for a apexi downpipe.
I found a good deal and a pimp sounding muffler and i thought i would tell u about it its not a "pitch".
"I hate seeing those magazines and vendor sites where they would charge $250 for a damn muffler. It's sad too because the ricers out there actually pay for it."
...even if somebody did buy a muffler for 250 bux how does that make them a ricer?
"You are a fool for paying 175 for a muffler.

...so if i take off my muffler it will up my hp 15-20 horse? whatever
You people disect these treads like we are in a lab, holy shit....im only human

You would feel a definite gain. Did you notice the word "exhaust" instead of the word "muffler"?

The way you stated it was kinda missleading. Everyone thought you were talkin about a muffler, not the full exhaust. Anyways, congrats on the buy and thanks for the heads up. :)

Sounds better than a Thermal?
gstclips

i have never heard a thermal before so i really couldn't tell you, but this hammerbeck one is the deepest lowest sounding muffler that i have heard on an eclipse around here. what does the thermal sound like?
RattlesnakeGST

One of the deepest lowest best sounding mufflers for the Eclipse that ive heard.... and im sure a lot of people would agree.. .Plus its pretty quiet till you step on it..
