Jetta - Panasonic CD Changer

Hi... I bought my daughter a 2000 Jetta for her first car. It has the standard AM/FM/Cassette head unit and a Panasonic CD Changer in the trunk. When you press CD, the head unit "sees" it but all you hear is a clicking noise. I heard that there is a code the radio needs to control the CD changer. Anyone know what the code is or how I can enter it? Thanks!

I believe the code you are thinking about is that when the changer is first installed you must use a scan tool to let the head unit know to look for the changer. It sounds as though this was already done as it is atempting to control it. If the noise is from the changer then it sounds like an internal changer problem to me. Does the radio display any error codes?

I dont know much about Panasonic car audios, but most of the electronics they produce are crap.

But fear not! I have had a Panasonic portable CD player that lasted me three years, and I can be tough on my CD players. So they make good audio electronics.

Regretfully, I dont know what your problem is, I would take it to a mechanic, but thats cause im not an audio guy. Sorry.

Thanks for responding. I don't get any error codes. When I press CD on the head unit, it actually reads "CD TRK 1" but doesn't play the CD or let me control the changer. I was hoping that maybe it needed to have the code put back in to properly control it and was hoping someone out there knew how to do it!

Here is how you would recode the radio functions (you must use a VAG scanner or simulator). It's at the bottom of the page.
