2000 Convert Windshield Washer Relay

The windshield washer pump on my 2000 Sebring Convertible stopped working the other day. I checked the fuses with an ohmmeter, and all were OK. I then removed the pump itself and checked it by applying 12v to it. It pumped just fine. Drat.

Next I bought the Hanes manual, which is chock full of wiring diagrams. Unfortunately, no 2000 Convertible diagram.

I considered the 2000 Coupe diagram, but it doesn’t seem quite right, since my car has the single piece switch assembly on the column (wiper and directionals all in one), which doesn’t appear on the 2000 Coupe diagram. The 2001 Coupe diagram does show this assembly, so for now I’m trusting it.

Here’s the real question. My next suspect is the relay that controls this motor. It’s supposed to be on the “Front ECU.” The Hanes book doesn’t tell me where this is, and it just isn’t obvious to me. Anybody know where to find it? It also controls the wipers. Better yet, anybody know which relay on it controls the washer motor?

I don’t suspect the ECUs themselves yet, since my wipers work just fine, and these are also controlled by these. (But you never know…)

I just replied to this one and saw yours, so here's what I did.

Had this problem on a 99 caused by a short in the main computer that affected only the pump (so far). Dealer wanted $900 to replace the computer. Had it fixed locally by adding a button under dash and adding a aftermarket washer pump and putting the pump input line in the washer fluid reservoir.
Total cost less than $100 including pump, button, fuse, wiring and labor.

I own a 96 Sebring with a related problem.
My wipers quit working while the washer functions normally. I too was unable to find a wiring diagram from Haynes or Chilton, and found nothing on internet. I pulled the combination switch (wiper, washer and lights) apart to look for burnt contacts, and discovered the wiper circuit has some resistors inline that feed small voltages to the computer (body control module I think), which then supplies the wiper motor with the correct signal.
The module is located above the driver's left shin, attached to the fuse box. There is a part number you need to refer to if you want to change it. This module is apparently a commonly failing item. In canada, they retail for $400 new and $200 used.
Although I love the car, my mother is Scottish and I'm going to spring for a cheaper fix. Probably install a switch (on/off and momentary functions) under the dash, wired to the motor so I can drive on the BC coast without carrying a long-handled squeegee :-).
