Check the fuses...Is anything else not functioning?

I checked the horn relay that is ok. I believe the the cigerate lighter is the same fuse as the horn and the lighter is working. I have yet to check the horns because i don't have a test light. I was just hoping some one has had the same problem. I have used the website to fix other problems on the car. I don't believe it is the steering wheel switch causing the problem. The dealer said the car has two horn's at 49.00 dallors a pc. Trying not to spend that kind of money. But if i have to i will. Thanks for the response.

What model year? I think there is some type of mechanical contact made from horn switch down the stalk switches, maybe that is goofed up?

There are two 15 amp mini fuses in the fuse compartment under the hood. Almost always 1 of thoses fuses is the problem.

I find it unlikely that both horns would go out at the same time. And $49.00? Autozone has them usually for $12-$16 bucks if you have to replace them. And if you replace them I belive there is a high and a low make sure you get both.

i have the same problem with my 2001 malibu

i changed the horn several times but the problem is the same

i discovered that the problem is from my airbag module which had a green chip between the airbag module and the place where you press to sound the horn -----> sorry but i am not too good in english :iceslolan

anyway the solution may be to get another one from some junkyard
that's what i will do in 2 weeks time

good luck

I'm reviving an old thread here. My 99 Malibu horn is intermittent. The dealer fixed it once, said there was some grit or stuff from the airbag that gets into the horn contacts. I am sure I could either vacuum or blow the contacts clean if there is a safe way to
1) disconnecting the airbag and
2) remove the cover in the center of the steering wheel.
Can any one advise me? Thanks.
