I'm looking at a 2001 ML with about 58,00 miles on it. I've got no histroy and won't be able to get any (it's a bank repo).

What should I look for? I heard they had oil problems, and what are the specifics of that situation? Was there a settlement or extended warranty?

Thanks

Yes, it seems to be an oil sludging issue, which is getting to be fairly common (Toyota has a similar issue). If the owner neglects oil changes, it can happen. Also, MB is very specific about using approved synthetic oil only. I suspect airtight service records will be required to get the repair done (but that's just my guess).

Look at this for details about the suit.

BTW, I have a '98 with 90,000 miles and no problems in sight. Good luck,
Don
