Hi,
I originally posted a quesion regarding my 94 Accord LX Sedan and it's having some shifting issues. It is an automatic (I know you all like the manuals). I pasted the original question below.
I was wondering what you think, we had the transmission tested and it turned out fine yet when the mechanic took it for a test drive he seemed to think it was shot.
So many Honda owners tell me what I am experiencing is normal and I don't know whether or not to have the tranny repaired and spend a fortune or let it be and take my chances. I love your opinions, if anybody knows Honda's, this group does. I want to add to the original post that it sometimes hesitates and jolts forward between 3rd and 4th and also when I get on it to pass someone. This is not always, just sometimes. There are no noises or clunks etc.... and otherwise shifts smooth. The fuid level is fine, light pink, no odor to it but the transmission shop said he saw metal particals on the dip stick. I didn't when I checked it.
We are having the fluid changed today. Thanks in advance!
Here is my original post....
I just got a 94 Honda Accord LX Sedan and I'm loving it but had a question.
It's shifting seems normally smooth but occasionally when accelerating from a stop it appears to hesitate and then jolt. A very similar feeling that you would have when it goes into passing gear or when it shifts to go up a steep hill.
My 88 Accord didn't do this but then again this seems to have more get up and go then the 88 did.
Any thoughts? I am so afraid it may be the transmission! I know it needs a new front axle perhaps that could be the problem?
We plan on getting the Tran fluid checked/flushed. Thanks in advance!

change the fluid with genuine Honda transsmission fluid.
then check your throttle cable linkage for too much slack, adjust if needed.

Thanks for the advice. We have gotten 3 opinions now and all say the tranny is going. It hesitates, then gets to 5-6K before shifting into 4th. The same when going from stop to start and when going into passing gear. One of the mechanics called it feathering?
The dealer we bought it from has agreed to pay half of the cost of the transmission repair and otherwise the car is great. Seeing We got it for a great price, we are getting the tranny repaired. To me the car is worth it.
Thanks again!
