Tein ss dampening, and camber kits

Well I just installed a set of Tein ss on my teg and I am trying to figure out the settings. Now I know that they are 16 way dampening adjustable, but there are 26 clicks from the knob that you turn to adjust. I was wondering if anyone knows where is what, and what good settings would be for daily driving, and what would be good for when I auto x, and I am assuming all the way right is fully tight, and left would be loose, right? Just want to make sure they aren't ass backwards. Also I am planning on purchacing a camber kit for my front, I am at roughly -2.1 degrees. I was wondering what a good kit would be, that would also be easy to install since I am planning on doing it, and I have never done it before. One more thing, I am doing the bolt washer camber corrector in the rear. I am with factory specs, but I want to be closer to 0, I am at -1.1 degrees in the back. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew how many degrees of posotive camber is created for each washer so I know how many to put on. Thanks

i have tein ss on my civic and there are 16 clicks. i don't understand why yours has 26. the setting of the damper should be set according to your preference so take it out, try changing the stiffness, and see what works for you. honestly the softest setting for me is too stiff for daily driving.

Huh, that is weird. I just went down to make sure I was correct, and i actually have 25 clicks. I wonder why mine are diff. I don't have the adjustment tool, I just use my fingers to turn the top if that makes a difference. I guess I will have to call tein and find out why mine have 25 settings instead of 16. anyone else have tein ss with 25 settings?

First off, READ your manual that came with them. :rolleyes:

Now, pretty much all Teins will click PAST the 16 settings. They specifically tell you DON'T EVER click past 16 clicks, or else you risk permently damaging the shock internals. :nono:

All the way clockwise is full stiff, 16 clicks counter clockwise from there is full soft. When I auto-X on mine, I go stiffest at the rear, and 4 clicks from stiffest at the front. It's good to do it thisway, because you want stiffer dampening at the rear to counter some of the understeer tendancies of the car. Of course you gotta get out there and play around with the settings to see what works best for YOU! My setup let alone anyone elses will really only work for that specific car, as your's almost certainly isn't set up the same way. Also tire pressure makes a BIG differance when auto-X'ing. Too low of a pressure, and you won't be as fast as you could otherwise be. Generally 5psi MORE than what you should normally run them it, is best.

CAUTION!
Use ONLY levels 1-16. Exceeding level 16 may damage the dampener.

thanks for the info silvery2kcivic. Mine didn't come with a manual because I bought them used. I got them from a friend who only had them on his car for 5 months. He never really ran them hard, and they were pretty much in new condition, and he sold them to me for $500. I figured I couldn't beat that price with a stick. anyways thanks..So right now I am all the way counter clockwise, that would be fully soft, or would that be past fully soft, and fully soft is 16 clicks counter from full clockwise. Just want to make sure. I am a little unclear as to weather you can go past fully stiff, or past fully soft. I will put them in the middle for today. Also anyone know how many degrees each washer is supposed to correct for the back camber? Thanks

Turn them fully CLOCKWISE ASAP before you read any further. I'm hoping you haven't driven on them at full counter clockwise. You can't go past fully stiff, but you CAN go past fully soft. So turn all the way clockwise till they stop. Then 16 clicks counter clockwise from there is full soft. Anything past that WILL damage the shock internals.

As for the rear camber washer trick. One washer per bolt, per degree of negative camber.

I had only driven them a couple of miles or so, going from a body shop and back to my home a few times. do you think that I might have srewed them over? Is there a way to check? Thanks for the help, and the washer degrees. I have -1 degree camber in the back, which is in factory spect, but it is easy enough to do. And I have to do a front kit anyway. Anyways thanks for the help. I hope to god that I didn't f*ck up my coils.

-1* I wouldn't worry about. Just make sure you get an alignment and the toe set to 0 all around.

Your Teins should be okay, but keep an eye on them. If they start leaking oil or fluid from them, that's when you know they are blown, and have to be sent into Tein USA for servicing, and rebuilding. That costs I believe I was quoted $75 -$100 per shock for that, this was by a representative from Tein.

Ya I know I probably dont neet one, due to the fact that is within factory specs, but I do have to do one in the front because I am -2.1 off, and I figued I had might as well since I have to do the front, and it doesn't seem like the back would take more than 30 min. Have you ever installed a front camber kit? is it easier to get the Ingalls type, or the skunk 2 type where you get the whole forlk. Thanks.

Never installed a camber kit yet. Other than the rear washer fix, I don't run a kit on my car since my camber is only off by about a degree in front.

As for kits, DON'T get the SKunk2 kit. They sell replacement ball joints for them at some shops, because they are NOTORIOUS for breaking and popping out of place which could be catastrophic to you an your car if it happens while driving. I'd get the Ingalls kit personally.
