Make sure to match the gear ratio with the front diff or bad things will happen.

depending on the ratio of your old rear end, and the ratio of the new one, you might notice a difference in your fuel economy, and top end. as we all know a 4.11 does great as a stoplight to stoplight drag readend, but it kills gas mileage and you cant get a car with a 4.11 over 50 mph, but god it will rocket you to 50, while a car with a 2.72 will go about 1000 mph, but will take that many years to get up to speed...

find a junked olds bravada, it should have a similar ratio and its posi, i believe... like something from the 96ish vintage... why doesnt the 4x4 work? you could have a pretty sweet off road machine if you fixed the 4x4 rather than go with a crazy rear end.

the rear end from a 93-97 will stick out farther on each side than your stock rear end because the camaro rear end is wider. As far as the ratios the manual camaros had 3.42 stock and I think 3.73 in the autos. I have a buddy that has an 00 SS camaro w/ 4.10s and that thing will go all the way to 155 mph all day long.

thats a fine machine... the point i was trying to make was that high ratios have better acceleration, and low ratios have better top end. the camaro ss runs like that because it has a 350 (lt2, ls6? i dont know the flavor offhand), while the blazer is only a 4.3 (if i recall correctly), and most likely doesnt have half the power... but you are absolutely correct, a camaro ss is fast. but with a 3.14, it would probably have a better top end, but youd lose acceleration...

(PS, my family are huge camaro fans, my mom drove a 76 with a 327 crate up until last year, my dad has a 69 pro street with a tweeked 454, and i had a 79, until the 350 blew. it was a hand me down motor and had been in about a dozen cars... by all accounts it probably had about half a million miles by the time it made it into mine... )
