I have a 91 Accord EX that appears to be squeaking from the steering wheel when driving and making turns, left or right. If the car is running though and u are sitting still and turn the wheels then it does not make the noise. I have checked the pwr steering fluid and its fine. Any suggestions ???

probably just the vinyl squeaking against the plastic or something. I doubt it's anything to worry about? That is, if it's coming from the steering wheel itself.

thanx 92lx, I am selling it thats why its a concern and if its something relatively easy to fix i will do that but if its major I will leave alone. Just seems strange that it only squeaks when driving

honda powersteering need to use only Honda type powersteering fluid. using other regular powersteering fluid can cause leaks and squeal as you mention.

Mine squeeks when its cold and it really does seem to come right from the pivot point. I just went in and cleaned it really well and it stopped. Get in every little crack and make sure the dust and stuff comes out.

Is your cruise control/horn working? How about SRS light?

My old Accord had this problem and it turned out to be something called the "clockspring", the doohickey that keeps the wiring and circuitry in the steering wheel from snapping when you turn it.
