i have a mirage 1.5L 99 4dr . it runs ok but it wouldn't go passed 85? it is an automatic but you could feel the car kick down but it is never at the same time and sometimes when it kicks down it would jerk into the gear. and my boyfriend had the car before me and would use to put the car N tap the gas and push it down into D. (maybe that is what caused it?!?!) please help me please!!!

doin N drops are not good for the tranny(transmission), so thats more than likely the problem, pretty expensive fix, and/or the torque converter could be bad. i have a couple things to say to help recognize its a tranny prob. put car in N, dont rev it! but hold brake, put it in D, if it takes more than 1-2 secs to go into gear, or if when your drivin and its switchin into a higher gear and it hesitates to go into the gear, like it pulls and jerks a lil its all tranny related, and may help to change the tranny fluid. or it could just need new spark plugs, spark plug wires or distributor cap and rotor, i know when i got my car, i ran it pretty hard and it started to get hard to get up to 85 and i change the plugs and that solved the problem, hope i could help and hope u find the prob

just to back him cause i have a 1.5. i had a gas fouled spark plug and it acted up pretty bad, but as far as ur tranny goes some cars can take a bit longer than 1-2 seconds without there being a problem. just try to replace trans filter and fluid first and tune up
