Ok, long story but I couldn't help it. Before I get to the story some back round. For those of you who don't know, I want to work for a major car company or supplier. Im going to University of Detroit Mercy which has strong ties to the automotive industry. I have a scholarship from Ford which basically gurantees a internship and co-op, and if they like you, a job afterwards. Well there is a company in the basement of the autoshow that is called ZF. They are out of germany. Well they had cut-away transmissions there and i wanted to learn more about them so they explained their 6 speed manual, 5 speed auto, and CVT to me and how they worked. Afterword, i started talking to one of the guys fromt eh US, and told him where im going my grades my classes and that i was a valedictorian in high school, my remote control cars and what the custom one me and my dad are doing. Before we finished talking, he handed me 2 cds on the company, a brocher and his buisness card. Then he said if i didn't like it at Ford, to drop him a line and that he doesn't give his buisness card to anyone. I put it in my wallet and go about 50-75 feet away. I stop and talk to my dad about it. He asks to see his card so I show him, he looks at me and says he hates me. He shows me his card. The guy I've been talking to is the Corporate Director of Human Resources for a 8 billion dollar a year supplier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just handed a job 3 years before I graduate college that will probaly pay aroudn $50,000!!!! To say the least, I still cant get the smile off my face.

Damn! If hes the boss of thier HR department then he wasnt kidding when he said he donst hand out his card to just anyone. damn man! thats an awsome opertunity. I say bugger ford, and see what these guys can offer you in terms of tuition and job prospects when your done.
(by the way, I believe ZF is the worlds largest supplier of aftermarket transmissions and parts)

An opertunity like this only comes around once in a life time. I would jump for sure! Worst case you go to Ford, not at all a bad proposition either way.

You know sometimes I wished I had taken the chance and went to work for Boeing. I passed the entrance exame but then decided it was not in my best interests at the time to move out of Illinios. Stupid move I tell you!
Wrath ya reckon :D

Congrats on landing a potential and well-paying job :) To this day I am still kicking myself for not finishing college....so whatever you do don't do what I did. Also when you are 21 and making $50,000 or more a year, be careful with your spending ;)

That is great news. Getting out to the shows where the big dogs play is a great way to get your name noticed. Sometimes the you get best surprises when you least expect them.
