does anyone know if hte 4.3 V6 is an LS1 and if it isnt does anyone know what it is. thanks

What year and fuel system, a CSFI, vin W, 1996 would be a L35. The LS1 is a V8 350 used in Vettes

it is a 2002 vortec. and the LS1 is also the new 5.3 V8 and the 6.0 V8.

That's not true about the LS1 being the 5.3 and 6.0. The 5.3(LM7, LM4, L59) and 6.0(LQ4, LQ9) are somewhat designed on the LS1 but are not that engine. Do a google search for LS1 gm.com Almost have to check glove box to make sure what 4.3 it is(if it hasn't been changed). Most likely its a LG3 or a LU3.

my bad the 5.3 and 6.0 are not LS1 exact but they are LS1 based enginres
