Another Newbie here. Unfortunately I will have little to add since I'm a far cry from a Mechanic. My first "car" was a '68 Bug that had been driven through too many cow pastures. It required me buying a set of metric feeler gages and adjusting the valves (under the initial guidance of a knowledgeable friend) once a week in order to make it to work and back. For $50 it was a great experience that lasted for several years. Since then, graduating to "real" cars (no offense to current Bug owners), the extent of my maintenance has been limited to oil, filter, fuse and wiper blade changing. Oh yes, I also dabbled in some putty, sanding and painting of the body of my '81 Corolla, but I would never brag about the results to anyone.
So, that's me. If you want to know about music or computers, feel free to ask (though this is probably the wrong venue for that), but if you want to know about cars, I'll pass you along to other able bodied members.
