4 door cat backs

i want an apexi ws cat back exhaust system for my 4g 4dr, but they don't make them :banghead:
so what i want is a list of manufactures that make cat backs for 4g 4dr's and anyones opinions on them. thanx

hmm thermal r+d, obx used to i believe, brosal(sp) um or you can have on custom made.

does anyone know if any other companies have a similar product to the apexi ws i.e. not to load, strait through, flows well, looks nice but is not rice, or if you can make the apexi ws work, like using the hatch back exhaust and welding in an extra foot of pipe or something. or has anyone had custom exhaust made and liked their setup, and how much did it cost to get it made

I have a Focuz universal muffler, 2.5" piping custom from the cat-back and I have my silencer in right now and I love it. Just normal driving u can barely hear it but if you gun it, it sounds good.

I used to have this set-up without the resonator and it was loud as fuck, when I got the resonator put in, it made it sound a lot better.

If you get a muffler off of eBay you can spend about 40-50 bux and save some money.

So it is better to get a muffler and custom piping? I mean, its cheaper and you get the same results right?

In my opinion, yes. Brand Name cat-back systems can run you pretty expensive where as custom can save you a couple hundred dollars. One of the main reasons I chose custom over the brand name one's was the place of the muffler. I didn't really like the look of a lot of the exhausts for 4g4d's because of the sideways muffler that would still have been underneath the trunk area.

If you do get a custom exhaust go to somewhere that does mandrel bends (keeps the same diameter of piping on curves). It may be a little bit more to get mandrel bends but it will give you a little better flow than crush bends (not the same diameter on curves).

Ah, thanks. One more thing, what is a Resonator?

A resonator is kind of like another catalic converter. It quiets down your exhaust some and in essence probably restricts some flow, but not really enough to make a difference in my opinion. And I don't have a true "resonator" in my car, its actually a glasspack.

I cant remember who it was but someone has a tanabe catback on their sedan thats for a hatch. Its basically like a little shorter. There was a rear section in the junkyard by my house on a sedan that was for a hatch that i was tryin to get off for my car (only needed to be extended) but i couldnt get it off so i just went and bought a new stock rear section for 80$. Yeah the best thing is to buy a muffler and get custom catback. Im going to try and get an apex N1 muffler and get either 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" catback without a resonator. But fixing whats wrong with ym car comes first, especially since i have to get inspection by saturday.

Depends if you have a header and/or cat and/or resonator of and/or a silencer. Obviously with a header, no cat, no resonator, no silencer it will be louder than stock exhaust manifold, cat, resonator, silencer...even though it will cut down on flow.

Usually with the larger piping it deepens the sound a little, but like usually won't make much of a difference. Removing you resonator will make it really loud, the actual exhaust (muffler) gives you your tone and softens it some. I'd say go custom - prolly is bigger piping and it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

There's a local place here, they will do 2.25 or 2.5 for ~$225 including the muffler, and they will hook up the mufflers temp. while building it so you can pick which one you want by the sound :cool: but they can't do 3" :(

yea, thermal even makes a turbo catback for 4g's that is 3 inch.

Actually I saw charts where a 'Teg boosting 9psi gained over 20whp by switching from 2.5" to 3".

3" is good for turbos, if I could fit 3.5" I would.
