Surgery...

Well...On Sunday my knee sort of locked(or froze) up on me and I had to go home and I missed yesterday at work as well. The only explaination I can find is a torn miniscus(sp?) and if it continues I'll have to have surgery (which is what I was told about a year ago).
The problem: I don't want to go through surgery. It would probably be expensive and The only money I have is the money I'm saving for a car. That and the fact that I'd miss out on more work, my classes, and possibly more. I've been taking painkillers and trying to stretch my leg and it works to a certain extent.
I'm hoping it'll be better by tomorrow, but so far it doesn't look good. If anyone has any suggestions or helpful advice...Let me know.
P.S: I didn't know where to post this, but if it doesn't belong here, would any of the mods please move it? Thanks.

Crap man, I been there with the torn part....managed to avoid the surgery though.....for now....
I hope it gets better, I know that's painful as all hell.

That sucks. Wouldn't you be better off in the long run getting the surgery done?

Do you think the healthier route is to keep taking pain killers?

I doubt it. When they checked it out yesterday, they gave me a small leg immobilizer(which feels 10x better than the irritating large one) and 2 perscriptions for medicine(800mg and another one that I forgot). I have to go back in a week and if it hasn't gotten better, then they'll have to operate. Thanks for kindness and advice. I'll keep you updated and wish me luck. :bigthumb:

I'm actually in that same position, torn Meniscus and a small tear in the ACL.. Friggin' sore my friend.
Don't want to miss work, although as SonyMobile has mentioned, here in Canada we do get that shit payed for.
There are days when I think I can't take it anymore and I'm going back to the DR and getting them to fix it, then I get a few Super Strength Motrin in to me and it settles down some and I put it off a little longer.
I know that I'm just creating more damage, it is better to get it done and over with now.
BTW, that's my left knee. Already had three operations on the right and have my right ankle screwed together. ( does the term left turning car + motorcycle + sudden impact clear that up any).
It does suck royaly that you guys have to pay for surgery and stuff.
Here's an idea, come to Canada, pretend to fall at the local Tim Hortons, sue them and and your get the new car AND you knee fixed. lol
Hope you get fixed up man.
