71 GT-37 Question

Hey guys. Im pretty new at this, so forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I don't know much about cars at all for that matter.
But here's what I got; Ive got a 1971 GT-37, and it hasn't been started since 1992. This car is completely badass. I remember when it used to run, and it was awesome. I want to get it going again, and havent even started it. I dont want to cause any damage. My dad says if I go and start it now, the push-rods would probably bend. If any of you can offer me some advice on what to do in the short-term to get this atleast running, I'd really appreciate it.
Other things to consider:
*Its got a 455 in it (8 cylinders, not original engine)
*Concerned the cylinders may be rusted out.

I'm willing to spend a few bucks to get this thing running again, but like I said, it hasnt run in 12 years. Any idea of how much this will cost me and what to do? I've never restored a car before. Thanks.

I don't know if you would be interested but I am looking for a GT-37. If you would consider selling yours please let me know.

Hey, I too am new to this forum, but have spent my whole life pretty much under the hood of a car. ( mostly Fords) The first thing you want to do is pull the plugs out of the motor, and spray some WD-40 down in the cylinders. This will break down the barrier somewhat that has been left where the rings have been sitting for the past twelve years.( Let it sit that way for at least a week)Then, put a socket, on a rachet handle, or breaker bar, and try to turn the engine over by using the harmonic dampner bolt for leverage. Be easy on it, and if it does not want to move at that point, plan on pullin the motor and haveing it bored to remove the rust buildup, your local machine shop, can help you with the rest.
