1982 733i A/C repair

Anybody have information on a repair shop that can handle the A/C system (specifically: repair/replce the temperature control rotary dial/switch) on the 1982 733i in the coastal North Carolina area? I live in New Bern, nc. THANKS

If the problems is that it sort of works but not too smoothly or consistently, then the best thing to do is to remove the control panel from the dash and take the cover off. Turn the rotary switch in question back and forth as you spray Radio Shack electrical contact cleaner on the internal parts of the switch. If you see a burnt resistor you might be able to replace it if you can figure out what size it is. That's about all anybody can do unless you can find the schematic for the circuit, and that's doubtful.

If the unit is beyond help you might be able to find one at a junkyard, but it might not work too well either. Maybe time to visit your friendly local dealer.
