Talk about a guy w/ too too much time on his hands.
That is sweet, what can be said about such a project.
Daaa----ang 15 yrs to build that model.
Simply amazing.
I think Kunta, FlyontheWall, P-Man, and all you other experts have a ways to go. :iceslolan
Maybe this guy will join the forum or write a how-to. :lol2:

that is so nuts.... i mean, how did he design the engine? the weights of the pistons, valve-spring spring rate, engine oil, too much to be asked..... but in the end of the story, he is da man..!! a dedicated life of a modeller.

Ok,
est. salery of the engineer
100K/52 weeks = 1923.07$
1923.07/40hrs = 48.08 per hour * 20k hrs to complete the car.
Total $961,538.46 + material = over a million $.
I hope he has some of dat model car insurance. :lol2:

Al...you have way to much time on your hands. Then you complain about no time to draw, and you spend your time on calculating costs.

This is unquestionably the greatest model car ever. I have seen this video before but I must say it is still truly amazing. An obsessive attention to detail.
I do believe I read somewhere that the owner of a scale model car online store (I cannot remember which) bought the car with the provision that the builder could buy it back at the selling price if he ever changed his mind about the sale.
I think its also interesting that he also seems almost relieved that the project is over, like maybe it was too much and he just wanted the car done.

Here's the website of the guy who bought that model from the builder... some nice pics. If you do a google search on Pierre Scerri, you'll find a few more links with pics and write-ups...

It probably would have been less expensive or the same cost to build a 1:1 exact replica. At least he would have been able to drive it!
