I have a 3.1L v6 Malibu and i've noticed what appears to be a green liquid leaking slowly out of a hose that is connected to the air conditioner unit. It seems to be leaking from a black valve cap that is part of this hose. Is this green substance the color of the freon used in the Malibu? My car is still under factory warranty, so I would like some feedback as to what the problem may be.

Is it coming from a hose connected to the compressor or the condenser ? The compressor is on the accessory belt near the water pump. The condenser is located in the front of the right quarter panel immediately adjacent to the radiator.
Also, what year is your vehicle and do you know if you have the orange color Dex-Cool 100k mile anti-freeze engine coolant or the green ethylene glycol ?

It's a 2003 Malibu with about 32,500 miles. I believe my car came with the orange Dex-cool. The hose that is leaking seems to be connected to the compressor and not the condenser.

The car should be under warranty then, at least for another few thousand. Freon is a gas that takes on liquid form when compressed. If it were leaking, you would not see a liquid. It sounds more like the lubricant oil or something inside the compressor is leaking out. I would take it over to the dealership right away and have them fix it while it is still under warranty. And yes, if you have a 2003 it came with the 100k mile orange Dex-cool.
